2. The history of the department

At the height of the Great War, on June 19, 1943, by a decree of the USSR Council of People's Commissars, the Technological Institute of Building Materials was established in Shymkent, which was supposed to provide training for specialists in the field of production of building materials and products.

The teaching staff of the Institute was created from among the teachers of evacuated educational institutions in Russia and Ukraine, many of whom continued to work at our university in the post-war years.

Since 1954, the widespread development of scientific research and industrial production of reinforced concrete has set the task of providing research, design institutes and manufacturing enterprises with highly qualified personnel and engineering and technical personnel. Engineers of this profile first began to prepare for world practice in 1951 at the Moscow Institute of Civil Engineering, and in 1957, for the first time in Kazakhstan, a department of civil engineers and technologists specializing in the Production of building products and Structures was organized. The first graduation of a civil engineer took place in 1959. Our university has long been the only higher education institution in Kazakhstan that trains specialists in this field. To date, more than 3,000 engineers have been trained.

During these periods, an important role in the formation of the Department of Technology of Building Materials, Products and Structures was played by established pedagogical traditions dating back to the heads of departments who worked at different times. The first head of the department was Khomutov A. A. and subsequent heads of associate professors Komarova N. N., Zinkina A.M., Glukhoverova A. L., professors Sharafieva Z. Sh., Mamontova Yu. A., Akhmetov A. R., Akhmetov A. A. Pedagogical heritage of Ismailov, associate professors Baibolova K. S., Kalshabekova E. N., Kopzhasarova B. T., who has held the position of head of the department since 2005, is stored and used at the department.

The achieved level of scientific and pedagogical potential of the department allowed in 1970 to open a postgraduate course, and in 2013 - a doctoral program for the training of highly qualified specialists. 3 doctoral, 7 PhD, 3 PhD and 60 master's theses have been completed and defended at the department.

The scientific direction of the department is related to the improvement of the technology of precast reinforced concrete and building materials, using industrial waste, as well as effective building materials based on local raw materials.

Since 2009, the laboratory of the department has been conducting certification tests of products of construction industry enterprises with the issuance of quality certificates.

From 2015 to 2017, the department took 1st place in the ranking of educational programs among universities of Kazakhstan in the specialty 5B073000-Production of building materials, products and structures.

Graduates of the department held the positions of ministers, deputy ministers, akims of regions, cities, districts, general directors and presidents of various companies, presidents of banks, professors, associate professors and were leading specialists of large and small enterprises. Among them are the highest official positions of industrial enterprises: Khlebov V. P., Tshanov A. K., Zvezdin E. A., Seitzhanov S. S., Mirer M. I. and Seitzhapparov N. S., Lunin V. I., Ergeshov R. B., Estemesov 3. O., Izzhanov M. M., Zhunisov S. J., Bimurzaev S. M. Kusidi G. D., Akhmetov G. A., M. A. Abishev, A. D. Dyusekeev. .

In 2017-2022, according to the rating of educational programs of higher educational institutions of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken", the educational program 6B07340 – "Production of building materials, products and structures" took 2nd and 3rd places in the Republic among 7 educational institutions in this field.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, in connection with the reorganization of the Department of Construction and Building Materials, the Department of Construction Materials and Expertise in Construction was established with the inclusion of teachers who previously formed the backbone of the Department of Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics, which for many years independently provided services for the training of engineering specialists and has its own weight in the history of the university.

The history of the department of Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics dates back to the 50s of the last century. At that time, the department was part of the general technical departments and the following disciplines were taught here: resistance of materials; higher mathematics; theory of mechanisms and machines and machine parts; theoretical mechanics; physics, etc.. The department was established in 1954 and the first head was Vasily Prokhorovich Gonchar (1906-1969), PhD, encyclopedic scientist, famous geometer. He was one of the first teachers of the Kazakh Institute of Technology, now the SKU named after M. Auyezov, who defended the degree of Candidate of Sciences. In addition to V. P. Gonchar, talented, educated teachers worked at the department: Milcho A. A., Gusev Ya. V., Manukhov G. S., Fialkov M. E. Since 1960, experienced engineers and designers have been accepted to the department: Ignatovich N.G., Rogulkin A. G. (1974-1980 - head of the department), Balabanov P. M., Albutova V. N., Saparbekov A. S. (1990-1994 - Head of the department), Kusherbekov R., Usmanov A., and in recent years Turisbekov S. Zh., Zhandarbekova D.D., Boranbaev K. B., Bakbergenov A. Yu., Shulenbaev Zh. Zh., Zhanabaev Zh. Zh., Voskresenskaya O. M.

Since 1980, under the leadership of Zhanabaev Zhaksylyk Zhumadilovich, the head of the department, the development of a new scientific and pedagogical direction has begun at the department: the use of computers in the educational process; the development of an automated learning system for the course of descriptive geometry.

Currently, the total number of the department of "Building Materials and Expertise in Construction" is 22 units, including 7 professors, 4 associate professors and 11 teachers and senior lecturers. Of these, 2 are doctors of sciences, 10 are candidates of sciences.

3. Research work of the department

Research work of the department

The teaching staff of the department performs state-funded research work on the topic GB NIR 21-02-06 "Improving the efficiency of using building materials, products and structures based on raw materials of the Turkestan region".

Regularly participates in the competition of projects for grant financing of scientific and (or) scientific and technical works. During the implementation of grant financing projects, the staff of the department carried out a number of research works.

Topics of research carried out within the framework of the grant:

    Topic: "Development and research of energy-saving structures using effective insulation materials with heat-reflecting coating to increase the level of heat preservation of houses." Project manager: PhD, Associate Professor Ritavletov R. A. Implementation period: 2018-2020
    Topic: "Creation and scientific substantiation of the design of energy-active outdoor fencing of residential buildings with increased thermal efficiency." The executors of this grant project are mainly teaching staff of the Department of Technology of Building Materials, Products and Structures. Implementation period: 2018-2020

In accordance with the calendar schedule, the research results were summarized by topic, the final report of the project was compiled and submitted to the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Implementation of research results into production

In terms of research work, the department is closely connected with industrial institutions. The results of the research work are discussed bilaterally and formalized. Such productions include "Ontustik kurylys service" LLP, "Tol-kurylys" LLP, "Steam" LLP.

Students' research papers

The research work of students at the department is carried out on the topics of the state budget of the department, laboratory tests, contract research, student club work and research work of doctoral students and undergraduates. Research work is carried out under the guidance of teachers of the department and scientific supervisors.

Students of the department took part in the annual republican subject Olympiad and the republican competition of student scientific papers and won several prizes.
