FACULTY OF «ARCHITECTURE, CONSTRUCTION AND TRANSPORT»
By the Decree of the Councils of People's Commissars of the USSR in 1943 in the city of Chimkent, Technological Institute of Building Materialswas opened. The creation of the Institute was motivated by the urgent need to provide engineering personnel for the developing industry of building materials and construction industry of Kazakhstan, Central Asian republics, Siberia and the Far East. The Faculty of Construction and Technology was one of the first faculties of the Institute, with the organization of which the development of our University began.
Over the 80-year history of the University development, the faculty has turned into a powerful scientific and educational center of the republic and it became the flagship of training highly qualified engineering personnel for the construction materials industry.
Deans of different years contributed to the development of the faculty: Smogorzhevsky V.U. (1958-1966), Sugurov Sh.B. (1961-1971), Urkumbaev M.F. (1971-1972), Kirilin V.M. (1973-1976), Uskenbaev S.U. (1974-1976), Terekhovich S.V. (1976-1980), Poroshin N.A. (1973-1980), Eskendirov Sh.Z. (1976-1982), Mutaliyev N.M. (1980-1984), Suzev N.A. (1980-1986), Syzdykov I. S. (1984-1988), Aimenov Zh.T. (1988-1993), Yugai O.K. (1991-1992),Muratalin N.K. (1993-1996), Altybaev M.A. (1993-1994), Sariev A.A. (1994-1996), Altaev M.A. (1997-1998), Arapov B.R. (1997-1999),Ussenkulov Zh.A. Since May 2023 the dean of the faculty is candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Khassen Abshenov.
In the organization and development of departments and specialties (educational programs) of the Faculty, an important role was played by their heads and leading scientists, who had the opportunity to select and educate scientific and pedagogical staff, to open and lead scientific directions, to develop material, technical and scientific-methodical base of the educational process. Among them were: Sharafiyeva Z.Sh., Komarova N.N., Baibulekov A.B., Mamontov Yu.A., Ismailov A.A., Kalshabekova E.N., Tulenov A.T.and others.
The faculty began to expand and enlarge, in 1999 by the decision of the Academic Council of the University the faculties "Construction and Technology" and "Mechanical and Mechanical Engineering" were reorganized into "Mechanical and Construction" faculty. In 2020, due to the change in the structure of the faculty, it was renamed "Architecture, Construction and Transportation".
Training of highly qualified specialists is currently carried out at the faculty by 155 teachers, including: 9 doctors of sciences and professors, 49 candidates of sciences and 10 PhD doctors.
The faculty has special laboratories for testing of building materials, products and structures, modern laboratory "Open Track" with a computer program of simulation modeling of the railway network, developed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Transport Planning and Transport Systems.
Research works of the faculty are carried out in the following directions:
1) Improving the properties and technologies of effective products and structures made from cellular concrete using new cutting technology;
2) Application of raw materials of Turkestan region for road routes;
3) Study of local raw materials and technogenic wastes of new production of finishing and wall building materials in Kazakhstan;
4) Improving performance characteristics and materials based on local raw materials when calculating climatic conditions using concrete technology and reinforced concrete technology;
5) Development of innovative and improved technologies for industrial, fire safety of civil and industrial facilities and processing of household and industrial waste of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
6) Development of methods of increasing reliability and efficiency of operation of land vehicles.
The results of research works of faculty members are regularly published in scientific journals with high impact factorindexed in the databases RSCI, Scopus, Web of Science.
Along with teachers, the students of the faculty are actively involved in research work, many of them are winners and prize-winners of national and international competitions and Olympiads.
The pride of the faculty are famous graduates of the past years, who became highly qualified engineers, public and state figures, such as - Tshanov A.K., Urkumbayev M.F., Zhylkishiyev B.A., Yergeshev R.B., Ramazanov Ye.A., Myrzakhmetov Sh.M., Seitzhapparov N.S., Seitzhanov S.S., Lunin V.I., Rudov G.A. and many others.
Currently, the faculty includes 6 departments: "Architecture and Urban Planning", "Transport, organization of transportation and traffic", "Industrial, civil and road construction", "Construction materials and expertise in construction", "Life safety and environmental protection", "Practical Russian language for technical specialties".
